I am writing this letter to tell you how happy we are with our Kinetico whole house filtering system. The drinking water is wonderful, we are drinking much more water now that it is so convenient and tastes so great. I have noticed my laundry is much softer and cleaner when I take it out of the dryer and I love the fact that I do not use hardly any detergents. Showers are wonderful; my daughter and I have especially noticed softer skin and much softer and cleaner hair. Overall, our home just feels healthier. Two weeks ago, I had an Aqua Clear Water System installed in my home. Let me preface this letter by saying that I am an RN and my husband is a Vascular Surgeon. Being in the medical profession, I had exhausted all avenues with several dermatologists in the area. I have had problems with my face breaking out in red blister-like patches. These will take weeks to months to clear up, sometimes causing me enough pain that I have to take Advil and go to bed. The only thing that remained constant in my trails of various face washes, shampoos, lotions, and prescribed topical medications was the water that I washed my face with. I began to wonder if I was allergic to the fluoride in the water. That is when I contacted David Brewster. The installation of your product was performed in a timely manner by qualified, courteous and professional staff. After using your product for just a short time it became obvious that the system performed beyond my expectations. Water tasted better, ice cubes were clearer, cloths, dishes, and utensils were cleaner and your cleaning products lasted longer. But for me personally, the most unexpected result was a marked improvement in my naturally dry skin condition. I have spent a lifetime dreading cold weather because of its accompanying discomfort of irritated skin touching even the softest material. , finding a significant improvement has brought both physical and emotional relief. In August 2005, we moved into our new home. In 2 months we began to have problems with our water in which we were not getting cold water in certain areas of the house and the water was heavy with chlorine smell and taste. I removed one of the Kohler valves in the master shower and discovered the screens on the valve were coated with limestone buildup and green copper corrosion. I cleaned the valve and re-installed it in pristine condition. The heavy chlorine was another issue. I had our local water source test our water and they said it was in spec. After routinely taking these valves apart and cleaning every two months I looked for a solution to the alkaline buildup on our valves and eliminating the chlorine that was causing copper corrosion in our pipes. There are a number of systems and claims on the market, but I narrowed our search down to the Kinetico system. Before the system was installed I took apart the shower valve and photographed it, cleaned it as usual. In 5 months I have not had to clean any valves and we have not bought any bottled water. A neighbor who was looking to install the system wanted to see one of these valves after 5 months with my system. We took the valve apart and it looked as good as or better than when I last cleaned it!! Another neighbor, also looking at the system, wanted to test our water. We used a PUR test kit. Our water was perfectly neutral PH, zero chlorine, no traces of lead or copper, no bacteria and all trace tests were in normal range. My family and I have been using Kinetico since 1996 and we love it. I can’t imagine not having a whole house system and clean drinking water. We appreciate the 12 years (so far) of service we have received from our Kinetico System.
Our house in the Wears Valley area is our second home. It is supplied by water from a 265' deep well. There is a couple of problems with the water that has caused me much grief and frustration over the seven plus years we've owned the property. A trace of sulphur & a concentration of a type of iron in the water is the condition that requires a positive change.
On attempting to eliminate these undesirable characteristics, I have been misled by and disappointed in some so-called water conditioning experts. The Culligan People did help in getting rid of the sulphur problem by selling me a chlorinator tank & pump and a retention tank. The iron problem they never attempted to eliminate. The iron when in contact with chlorine turns an awful brown color. This is not good when time comes to relax in a clean, warm, water filled Hot Tub.
So I continue my quest. I contacted three other "expert" water conditioning companies. Two of them respond with proposals after water testing. The other company never responded. One purposed fix was at a cost of $4500.00.
The other fix was from ECO Water System, a local firm, for a cost of $2900 plus change. They claimed their iron filter with its media & air injection features would completely solve my iron problem. They installed the filter & were on their way. I gave it a couple of weeks or more to wake up & do its thing but I was not happy. The water still had color & the air pump kept stopping when it wasn't supposed to. I called ECO Water, they came up tested the water, routine, and said that the filter was plumbed in the water line in the wrong location. They wanted the iron filter down stream of the retention tank, even when they were the ones who placed it before the retention tank. I changed the plumbing at my expense. This change resulted in little or no improvement to my situation. To shorten the story, I continued dealing with these people for two years with them telling me something different every time they were called back.
Finally I contacted Acqua Clear Water Systems through an internet search. They came and tested the water, recommended a system and guaranteed, in writing, that their plan would rid me of my problem. I gave them the OK. They installed their filter. The water is crystal clear, tastes great and my wife and guests are not complaining. "It’s a miracle".
